Khao Lak diving

Khao Lak divingLocal Khao Lak dive sites are mainly used for training dives. They are shallow reefs with pretty average visibility. Exceptions to this are the wreck dives. The Boonsung Wreck which is an excellent day and night dive full of life and is occasionally visited by whale sharks is also often dived by the Khao Lak liveaboards. There is also a deeper wreck called the Seachart 1 wreck, a large cargo ship that sank just a few kilometres from Khao Lak and is popular with experienced divers and for deep diver training.

The most popular Khao Lak diving day trips are to the Similan Islands, usually with 2 dives per day. Trips run with speedboats or slow boats and include lunch on the boat and transfers from your hotel.

Diving day trips also run to Koh Bon and Koh Tachai as well as to Richelieu Rock. Many reputable dive companies will require experience beyond Open Water certification to join these trips (either Advanced certification or a minimum number of dives) as currents can be strong and depths beyond 18 metres.

There are several dive boat operators running day trip boats out of Khao Lak. They all have slightly different schedules and prices. Tell us where you want to dive and when. We’ll tailor a Khao Lak diving package for you. Discounts are available on multi day Khao Lak Diving.
